The Senior Mechanical Engineer designs medical and surgical instruments from concept to finished goods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• • Take concept design or product specification, complete the detail component design and assembly design.
• • Analyzes material strength and component tolerance to ensure the design meets product specifications.
• • Organize the engineering pilot run, build and test the prototypes.
• • Evaluates the product performance and recommends design modifications to enhance the product.
• • Design and develop assembly processes and fixtures to meet production demand.

Education and/or Experience:

• • minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with a concentration in Mechanical Engineering; or
• • a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• • Graduate degree preferred.
• • Experience designing small, precision medical devices or instruments highly preferred.
• • Good understanding of GD&T a must.
• • Must possess strong analytical skills related to tolerance analysis and mechanical stress analysis.
• • Good understanding and previous experience with Pro E a must.

• • Good skills with gears, small assemblies and other power transmission and electro mechanical components.
• • Knowledge of and previous experience with manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining, welding) to consider manufacturing process during design of components/assemblies. Experience should also include writing manufacturing procedures.
• • Previous design experience using Solid Works and or Pro E.
• • Good technical writing skills
• • Willingness to take a hands-on approach
• • Critical thinking ability to assist with troubleshooting
